Phonetic Spit creates brave spaces for young people to find, develop, & publicly present their voices.

Break it down on the Mic. Break it down in real life.

Our Impact:

Since 2011, Phonetic Spit has transformed communities through arts and education programming. We use creative writing, poetry, spoken word, hip-hop, theatre, and performance as tools to build hope and resilience in the lives of young people and encourage respect, accountability, honesty, expression, vulnerability, and courage. Our curriculum emphasizes the importance of social, emotional, cultural, and academic literacy and utilizes the arts as an avenue for individual and communal, healing, growth, and self-awareness.
